Digi 1/2
Chapter 1

'Isn't it Ironic? Dontcha Think?'

by The Infamous Boss Reo

Patamon watch as Takeru played happily with Kari. The two children seemed like they were inseperable, which made Patamon's heart ache a little bit. He had been wondering what it was like to run, to laugh, to do everything a human can do that a digimon can't. He had been watching the children from his perch high up in a tree, the digidestined had been traveling for what seemed like forever, and a well-deserved rest in some shade was all Patamon wanted right now.

That is, unless you count one particular thing.

he wanted to know what it was like to be human. Straight and simple. And the more he watched TK and Kari, the more he wanted to be human just like them. He remembered what Takeru had once said, when they were in the primary village.

'We can be best friends, forever and ever!' Patamon never forgot these words, but the more he thought about them, the more he worried. "Even if we're friends. We still cant be together all the time." Patamon felt his heart sink a little more with this thought. Suddenly, he felt the branch he was perched on shake a little. He looked to his side to see Gatomon coming up next to him.

"Hey Patamon." she said, "Hey Gato." he responded, not feeling like talking too much at the moment. "What's wrong?" the feline digimon asked, sensing Patamon's unhappiness, "It's ...........nothing." Gatomon jus smirked. "Come on Patamon, you cant hide anything from me." she said, Patamon gave a sigh, "I want......." Gatomon edged closer to him, "I want...........to be human." Gatomon gave him a surprised look, "Human?" she asked, "Yeah. I wanna know what it's like to be human." Pata said, "To be able to do what they do, to experience what they experience."

"Patamon...." Gato said, placing her paw on Patamon's shoulder, "We already do experience what they do. Well, maybe not Gomamon. But that's only because he doesn't have any thumbs." Patamon gave a light chuckle at this, "Yeah, I guess you're right."

"Hey everyone!!! I got a message from Gennai!" both of the digimon suddenly heard Izzy shout, all of them gathered around Izzy and his computer as a holographic image of an old man came into view.

"Greetings, Digidestined." the image said, "I have some exciting news for you!"

"What is it Gennai?" Tai asked, stepping forward. "After doing some work I think I may have found a way to turn a digimon into a human or a human into a Digimon." Gennai explained.

Patamon's jaw almost dropped as he said this.

"Really? How did you find out a way to do that?" Matt asked, "Hmmmm....you know, I completely forgot." Gennai said, everyone facefaulted. "Figures he would." Gabumon said.

"But dont worry, I still know how to do the process." Gennai said, immedeatly, Patamon's face brightened up. "Why don't you all meet me at my home, then I'll show you!"

"Sounds like a good idea!" Izzy exclaimed, "We'll meet you there tomorrow." Tai said.

"Good" Gennai said, "I'll see you then." and with that, the image blurred away. "Can you imagine that?" Agumon asked Gomamon excitedly, "Being able to be human! or even a human being able to be a digimon!"

"Yeah!" Gomamon said, "Just imagine what Joe would look like with flippers!" Everyone laughed at Gomamon's comment, except Joe, of course. "I dont see what's so funny." Joe said sternly, "I hate being in the water." "Whatever happens," Tai said, "We all need to get some rest before we head on out to see him."

Patamon couldn't sleep that night. All he could think of was seeing Gennai, hoping to make come true what he had wished for. The chance to be human. "What'll it be like?" he asked himself, he looked over to Takeru, who was sleeping peacefully next to him. "I can't wait long enough." He silently got up, careful not to stir the sleeping child. "TK, I hope you can understand." and he spread his wings and took flight, soaring through the clear night sky.

As Patamon neared Gennai's home, he could make out the large lake that covered it. Soon, he landed softly at the water's edge. "How did we do this last time?" he asked himself, suddenly before his eyes, the water began to seperate like it had done before. Soon Patamon could see a stairway heading downwards towards Gennai's house, Patamon's heart raced as he took flight once again and flew down the stairway.

Gennai was busy feeding the fish that floated around his house when he suddenly heard a high pitched voice, "Gennai!" the old man jumped and almost fell into his pond when he heard Patamon's voice. "Whaa?!?! Who's there??!!" he shouted, getting his bearings. He looked to see the small flying digimon perched on the lantern in his garden. "Oh! It's you, Patamon!"
The old man was surprised to see the digimon without his young companion as well as the other digidestined. "Patamon, why are you out here all alone? Shouldn't you be with TK?" he asked, Patamon lowered his wings, "I.....I want you to make me human."

There was a long pause following Patamon's words.

"Patamon, do you really want to take such a risk?" Gennai finally asked, the small digimon nodded firmly, "Yes, I want to know what it's like to be human." "But Patamon," Gennai said, "if I turn you human, you'll no longer be able to digivolve. You wont even have any attacks." Gennai could see there was no use arguing with the little flying pot roast.

"My mind is made up." Patamon stated, "And I want to do this." Gennai gave a reluctant sigh. "Does any of the others know you left?" Patamon shook his head "No, I didnt want to tell them about this. They probably would have laughed or thought I was crazy." Gennai gave a shrug and made his way into his house.

"Follow me then." the digimon nodded and took flight after him. Patamon followed Gennai into his main room, where they had been the last time they came here. Gennai went into the back room and soon came back out with a small digivice.

"Where did you get a digivice?" Patamon asked, a little astonished to see one of the small gadgets that didnt belong to a digidestined, "This isn't really a digivice." Gennai said, Patamon raised his eyebrow. "You've lost me now." Patamon said, "I'll try to explain then." Gennai said, "Don't bother, I dont want my head to hurt." Patamon said, Gennai merely shrugged. "Suit yourself then." the old man approached the young digimon, "I want you to lay down now." he said, the digimon nodded and layed down on his back. "I dont know if this will work all the way though, just so you know." "Huh?!" Patamon looked at him, "In fact, I dont know for certain if you'll live through this." Gennai said, holding the digivice over the small digimon, "What?!" Patamon gasped, suddenly the digivice started to glow, and before Patamon knew it, he felt a surge of energy flow through him.

"It almost feels like I'm digivolving." Patamon thought, "Only this feels more.........peaceful." Patamon felt a light engulf his body, and could soon feel his body begin to change it's shape.

He had been sleeping for what he felt like was almost two days. Patamon slowly opened his eyes, adjusting to the new-risen sun. He looked to see that a blanket had been draped over him. "I must have fallen asleep when it happend." he thought.

Suddenly remembering why he was here in the first place, Patamon excitedly threw off the blanket covering his new form. He was almost speechless as he saw his body, completely changed. His legs had grown longer, as well as the rest of his body. He looked at his hand and stared at it with wide eyes. Instead of a small, black paw that he had seen all his life, he saw a human hand. He looked down upon the rest of his body, he found that he was also wearing clothing. He stood up to get a better look at himself, a sudden rush over coming him as he got up, he realized he had grown almost to what seemed to him like a giant size.

Driven with excitement, Patamon looked over his new form. He appeared to be wearing what looked like a baggyjumpsuit, they were colored brown and white, matching the color of what his fur used to be. He felt something covering his head and discovered he had a hood draped over his head. Patamon looked down at himself again in disbelief that his dream had finally come true. He was human.

Overcome with happiness, Patamon suddenly noticed that something was wrong here. He looked at his chest and saw that there were two slight bulges coming out, barely visible due to the fact that he was wearing a baggy jumpsuit. He felt them with his hands a realized that they were a bit bigger than he had thought.

"Well, I assume you had a good sleep?" Patamon heard Gennai say behind him, "Want some tea?" Patamon looked at the old man, "Gennai....umm....are you sure you didnt make a mistake or anything?" Patamon asked, Gennai shrugged. "To tell you the truth, you're the first digimon I head done this to." Patamon's eyes widened.

"I need a mirror. Now."

Patamon rushed around Gennai's house, searching frantically for a mirror. Gennai merely looked at the young now-human as he ran around the room. Finally finding a small mirror, Patamon looked into it and saw his reflection. His eyes widened even more than before and his mouth dropped as he saw the reflection of a young girl. Two large green eyes stared back at her from the reflection, with short, black hair covereing Patamon's head, two small pigtails resembled what were once the digimon's wings. It seems that 'he' was now a 'she'.

"I.........I..........I'M A GIRL?!?!" she gasped, Gennai sipped his cup of tea. "You're also a pretty cute one too." he chuckled.

"BUT I 'M A GIRL!!!!!!" Patamon shouted at the top of her lungs, scaring the fish that were floating outside, "I'M SUPPOSED TO BE A BOY!!!!!!"

"At least it worked, right?" Gennai asked, Pata-girl merely looked at the old man with a dull face.

"You're an idiot." Patamon stated, pointing at Gennai.

"Why dont I find you a nice dress or two for you to take back with you?" Gennai offered, Pata slowly walked towards him.

"Come here." was all she said, a vein growning on her forehead. Gennai hurried to run away from the angry young girl.
