TK placed a bunch of flowers on Kari's coffin. The remaining Digi
Destined were all gathered to say farewell to yet another friend of theirs who
had tragically deceased.
"This is horrible…Why is this happening to us?" Mimi weeped.
"I'm not as affraid of that as I'm more concerned, if these
killings will not stop here," Sora said.
Everyone became quiet.
"How can you even think of such a thing?" TK finally asked.
Sora leaned towards TK "I'm just concerned of the well beings of
us all. We don't yet know what or who killed all of the other ones or
why."
"Actually… I've studied these cases a little and this ones a
different from the others," Yolei corrected.
Mimi brushed her tears away, as she asked "Really? How so?"
"Well, you see… In all the previous cases, the Digi device had
been broken near completely. But this time, Kari's device was still
functional," Yolei explained.
Silence filled the room. Could this be related to the murders somehow?
Why would the murder break the devices?

Gatomon was finally beginning to think clearly. She tried to bit through her
straight jacket. She tried to rip it open. But nothing helpt. She gave a pained
sigh and leaned against the comforted wall.
Suddenly, she blinked. She couldn't believe her eyes. The door was
slightly open. But she could have sworn it was still closed few moments ago.
She slowly got near it and pushed it open a little with her head, while looking
around if the guards were near to see if it was a trap.
Gatomon got into the hallway and backed up against the doorknob, while
rubbing the jacket ‘til it was loosened enough for her to break free. She held
her sore paws and looked around one last time to make sure no one was around.
She could hear footsteps coming closer, so she quickly pulled the jacket
loosely on top of herself and went back inside the room.
The guard came and opened the door and got closer to Gatomon to give
her a new injection.
However, when he reached towards her, she suddenly bit his arm and
pulled her paw and injected the drugs into the guard, making him pass out on
the floor in an instant. Seeing her chance to escape, Gatomon began to run away
before she noticed three guards in front of her. She quickly jumped into a laundry
pipe, just in time before they could notice her. Unknown to her however, the
doctor who had treated her shifted his glasses a little and smiled while
observing her from the security camera.
"The game’s afoot," he said silently while smiling.
AT THE SAMETIME…
Patamon punched the punching bag Veemon was holding.
"I can't believe someone would want to harm Kari," Patamon
groaned while, giving another punch.
Veemon held the bag still "There’s nothing we can do about her
anymore. But we can train so we can protect TK and the others, so they don’t
have the horrible fate as well."
Patamon breathed hard and dropped the punching gloves.
"Your turn Veemon," he said.
Veemon started putting the gloves on "You know what I was just
wondering about?"
"What is it?" Patamon replied, as he took a sip of water from
a bottle.
"See, the first person who died was Davis… That was last Monday.
Then Matt died and that was Thursday," Veemon said.
"Yes? And?" Patamon questioned.
Veemon punched the bag few times "And it's Wednesday now."
"Wait, are you saying that…" Patamon mumbled while placing
the bottle on a seat nearby.
"The killer may strike again tomorrow. And it may be another girl…
Or a guy," Veemon said.
Davis…Matt…Kari…
TK walked with Sora towards his home.
"TK… I'm so sorry about Kari. And… I'm sorry you must take care of
Veemon too, it must be real hard for you," she spoke up.
He looked down on the ground "Kari…Used to help take care of
them."
"I'm so sorry TK… So, so sorry…" Sora whimpered and hugged TK
gently.
"Thank you Sora… You are a true friend." TK said while
smiling a little.
The two continued to walk.
"Ummm, TK? What do you think of what Yolei said?" she
suddenly asked.
He looked up at sky as he pondered, "You mean about all the other devices
being broken? I don't know, but I've got a feeling that if we'll open the
device, we'll learn more about all this."
"TK, do you know what day it is today?" Sora suddenly asked
while giggling.
"Uhh, no I don't. What day it is?" TK inquired and stopped
moving.
Sora placed her hands on top of TK's.
"Today was the day we first time got to talk together," Sora
said accompanied with a gentle smile.
TK was not able to hide his amazement "You actually remember that?
Who cares about a day like that during times like this?"
Sora suddenly looked annoyed.
"I do," she said.
Before TK could say sorry or even ask what she had meant, Sora suddenly
burst into tears.
TK was taken by total surprise as she hugged against him "S…
Sora?"
"I'm sorry, I'm just being stupid." Sora cried.
"No you are not… But
Sora…Why is this day so important to you?" TK asked.
She looked down on the ground "Because…"
Suddenly a loud thunder interrupted the two.
"Ah, shit it's going to rain soon!" Sora exclaimed.
TK gently placed his hand over her cheek and made her look back into
his eyes "Don't let that bother you. Why is this day so important?"
"Because… Because…" she said while looking left and right, as
if making sure no one was watching.
"Sora?" TK asked.
Sora finally gathered enough courage and let out a near muffled
"Because on this day you took my heart."
The thunder stroke again and several raindrops started to come down on
them.
"Okay Sora. That's not something to joke about," TK finally
slowly said.
"I'd never joke about something like this right now!!" Sora
screamed while looking directly at TK's eyes.
He shook his head as he tried to outcry her "Why Sora, why do you
tell me all this? Why now at times like this?!!?!"
Long moment of silence. The only sound was made from the water hitting against
them and the ground.
"Because…. Because of
what’s going on… I don't know if I’ll ever have the chance to say so any other
time..." Sora confessed while looking down.
Raindrops. Rain starts and
ends the life. And so does a human. Red. The color of blood. The color that
embraces my hands… Why… Why must the humans torture me so… So much…?
Gatomon gave a cough. The rain was starting to make her get soaked wet.
She covered her eyes with her paw, while desperately trying to manage to go
forward. The rain was starting to get even harder. Suddenly, she noticed two
familiar people. TK and Sora! She started to run towards the two with smile
starting to reappear on her face.
"TK! Sora!" she yelled.
TK turned to the direction of the voice "Gatomon?"
"What? Gatomon, where have you been?" Sora asked when Gatomon
ran to hug the two.
Gatomon looked to the direction of the asylum "They…They think
I've killed Kari. And they locked me up in there, oh please help me. Please...
I don’t want to go back…"
"Okay, I'll help you," TK soothingly said as he tried to calm
her down.
Suddenly, Sora took hold of his shoulders "TK, you've got your
hands full of supporting the two Digimon you have already now. Let me take care
of Gatomon."
"You are right. Having two Digimon to protect may give us a better
chance of survival anyway…" TK spoke, while wiping the water off his face.
TK ran off to the direction of his house. Gatomon and Sora ran off to
her house.
AT THE SAMETIME…
Yolei suddenly rose up and pulled up a phone.
"I must warn the others! They are in a great danger!" she
thought to herself.
The phone of Sora was ringing.
"Come on Sora, please answer… Please God; don’t let me be too late!!
" Yolei begged in her head.
Suddenly, Biyomon picked up the phone.
"Sora?" Yolei asked.
Biyomon laughed a bit "No, Sora's out. This is Biyomon speaking,
may I leave a message?"
"Biyomon! You've got to warn Sora and others! The killer it's… “
Yolei shouted, when suddenly the line went down.
Biyomon shivered a little "Yolei?"
Silence.
"Yolei?!" Biyomon shouted into the phone.
The phone was hanging from its cord over the now dead body of Yolei.
FEW DAYS LATER
Veemon shook his head after hearing the news.
"It's worse than I thought. There’s no pattern in the killings at
all… We… We cannot know when the murderer strikes again…" he groaned as he
hang the phone up.
To be continued…
